Health Awareness and Free Medical ServicesAl-Mu’minaat (The Believing Women) Organisation of Oyo State gathered the community for a day dedicated to health and wellness at the Ogbomoso Central Mosque on Saturday, November 2, 2024. This Health Awareness and Free Medical Services Day, aimed at enhancing healthcare access and education, was led by Dr. Giwa Muminat A., a Residential Doctor in the Mental Health Department of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.The Amirah of Al-Mu’minaat, hajia Rafat Abd-Qadir welcomed attendees with a warm address, expressing gratitude to Allah and acknowledging esteemed guests, healthcare providers, and community members. She highlighted the critical role health plays in enabling individuals to fulfill their family, spiritual and societal responsibilities. Quoting the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), she reminded attendees that maintaining physical and mental well-being is a religious duty, as a strong and healthy individual is greatly valued in Islam.“Our roles as wives, daughters, mothers and community members can only be realized through our well-being,” the Amirah emphasized. “This Health Awareness and Free Medical Services Day reflects our values of compassion, empathy and service.”The event demonstrated Al-Mu’minaat’s commitment to the holistic well-being of the community by providing free medical consultations, screenings and health education sessions. Medical professionals from various fields volunteered their expertise to address a wide range of health concerns, equipping attendees with insights on preventive care and lifestyle improvements.Through this Health Awareness and Free Medical Services Day, Al-Mu’minaat reinforces the belief that every person deserves access to quality healthcare and the knowledge to live a healthier life.
